JOHNNY BARRIENTOZ
CEO, GRAND TRAVERSE RESORT & CASINOS
Johnny Barrientoz serves as Chief Executive Officer of Grand Traverse Resort and Casinos, effective Monday, September 30, 2024.
A proud member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, Johnny brings nearly 20 years of comprehensive gaming industry experience to his new role. His journey in the field began in 2005 as a Slot Attendant, and through hard work and determination, he rose to hold key leadership positions, including General Manager and Slot Director at Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel. Most recently, Johnny served as the Director of Gaming at Grand Casino Hinckley, where he oversaw critical operations and contributed to organizational success.
Johnny is recognized as an ethical and inspiring leader, known for his ability to motivate teams and respond to challenges with confidence and focus. His dedication to delivering exceptional customer experiences has earned him accolades from peers, guests, and community leaders alike. Under his leadership, businesses have consistently driven positive referrals, repeat visits, and enhanced guest satisfaction.
A Traverse City native and 1995 graduate of Traverse City Central High School, Johnny has cultivated a deep understanding of leadership and management throughout his career. He holds a Gaming Management Certification from the University of Nevada and a Hospitality Certification from Cornell University, which complement his hands-on expertise in the gaming and hospitality industries.
As Johnny steps into this new role, he brings a clear vision for fostering growth, driving innovation, and strengthening ties with the community. We are excited to welcome him back to Grand Traverse Resort and Casinos and look forward to the continued success he will help achieve.
MAYAN BELTRAN
GENERAL MANAGER, TURTLE CREEK CASINO & HOTEL
Mayan Beltran was named General Manager of Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel in December 2023. Beltran started his career as a table games dealer in 1993 and spans over 30 years across the country. He has held many Leadership positions throughout his career and looks forward to using his knowledge and experience to enhance the Grand Traverse Resort & Casinos businesses.
JESSE WARD
GENERAL MANAGER, LEELANAU SANDS CASINO & LODGE
Jesse Ward was named General Manager for Leelanau Sands Casino & Lodge in 2019 for her extensive background in the casino industry. Ward has nearly 33 years of casino experience, beginning her career at our very own Super Bingo Palace in 1991; she has worked in variety of capacities since that time. Prior to moving to oversee the Leelanau Sands & Lodge property, she served as a Shift Manager at Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel.
Tim Norman
GENERAL MANAGER, GRAND TRAVERSE RESORT AND SPA
Tim Norman returns to Grand Traverse Resort and Spa as General Manager on August 14, 2023. Norman’s hospitality experience spans more than 30 years across the country. He first served as the Resort’s General Manager from 2012-2018. “It is an honor to return to the Resort,” Norman says. “I am a champion for Pure Michigan.”
